Doorway Restoration

Graham A. Jones Building Contractor recently completed this doorway restoration project at Ostreme Community Hall in Mumbles, bringing an important entrance back into safe, working use after the door and frame had been unusable for nearly two years.

The work involved carefully taking down part of the existing stone wall, removing and replacing a steel lintel that had completely rusted, and installing a new door and frame. To preserve the original character of the building, the existing door design was copied and an identical replica was made by Woodshop Joinery in Skewen.

The project was completed on schedule and in time for the doorway to be used as access to the polling station on Thursday. The result is a smart, sympathetic repair that improves both the safety and usability of the entrance while retaining the appearance of the original doorway.
